bplo to be included on Limerick Compilation 'Tone List' 2009 release

Great news is often provided by great people. Here are the details from the lovely Alan Owens of The Limerick Leader.

"Noel Hogan and Alan Jacques have combined to compile a new CD showcasing Limerick's finest musical talent. 'Tone List' will consist of tracks from some of the best new up and coming acts in the city as chosen by former member of The Cranberries Noel Hogan and Live 95FM DJ Alan Jacques.
"There are so many brilliant bands and solo artists doing great things musically in Limerick and the proof of that will be heard on 'Tone List' when it's released next year." said Hogan.

Leader reports on bplo picnic antics

We like to share when nice things are said about us in the press - as well you know! Well Alan Owens of The Limerick Leader certainly managed to swell bplo heads with his observations at the Electric Picnic.

More nice press

A keen-eyed BPLO fan spotted this rave review of our Flat Lake Festival gig in the Irish Examiner (29.08.08) in an article entitled 'McCabe festival reflects his quirkiness':

"Best of the fest, though, was Saturday's late-night performance from The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra.
They had us waltzing in the big top until their thunderous cover of Bowie's Five Years closed the show."
- Alan O'Riordan

If anyone can find the review online, I'll add a link.

BP (Electric) LO

Just back from the Electric Picnic (some of the other Party Pitts are larging it for another night). We had a great time playing on the Body and Soul area Pod (a giant capsule festooned with Smarties). The sun put its hat on and came out to play and the assembled masses basked in the unaccustomed rays as we plied them with golden tones. Messers Hickey and Byrne provided trombone madness and we sent the crowd home stomping. A wonderful time at a wonderful festival, and a fitting finale to BPLO's August festival tour. Images are available here.

Fantastic Flatlake

BPLO were privileged to be among the performers at the inaugaral and very unique Flatlake Festival in Clones, Co. Monaghan in 2007. More than happy to return this year, t'was done with aplomb on Saturday August 23rd.
On a stage in the environs of a big top - marquee kind of thing - we had so much fun. The gig was a delight and the crowd even more so. I'm still recovering as I type this but I'm sure the boys will agree with me that this gig and festival was the perfect antidote to the dismal summer weather.
All I'll say is this, people were waltzing at 2am in a field in Monaghan. Marvellous!

BPLO in the press

The Flatlake Festival is almost upon us and the BPLO is mentioned in the write-ups in the Irish Times and Hot Press. Apparently we'll all get given a toothbrush at Flat Lake -- I won't need to buy a new one this year! The Limerick Leader featured us in a feature on Limerick bands headed to the Electric Picnic.

BPLO go green

The BPLO braved the Irish summer, donning our suits and wellies to play the Irish Green Gathering deep in the wilds of Wexford. Despite it being rather early in the day, we did our best to rock out in our own understated way. Check out the pictures here in our image gallery.
